EUJTF Project Profile: EV-WT Training Programme
Project Summary
Roscommon County Council/Galway Roscommon Educational Training Board have developed 2 training courses in DIY Wind Turbine Construction and Electric Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
Self-build wind turbine course – During the 8 days of the course participants build a small scall wind turbine from scratch. The course was developed to upskill workers in communities affected by Just Transition. The course provides a pathway to employment in the renewable energy sector.
EV maintenance and repair course – During this course participants learn how to maintain and repair electric vehicles. City and Guilds accredited EV training IMI levels1-4.
Overall Objective:
- The project provides upskilling/training in 2 linked low-carbon technologies, to re-engage existing skills formerly utilised in peat-based industry and to provide sustainable employment opportunities into the future for the County workforce.
- In particular, the courses provide opportunities for former workers and future generations disadvantaged by changes resulting from the implementation of Ireland’s Climate Action Plan, through upskilling pathways that enable participation in the move to renewables and electrical transportation.
