EUJTF Project Profile: RWN CycleUp Textiles Skills and Product Innovation
Project Summary
This project supports a Roscommon-based upcycling start-up that trains women to repurpose discarded textiles. CycleUp Textiles, founded by Roscommon Women’s Network (RWN), provides textile upcycling training to women, including those from the Irish Traveller community and Ukraine, enabling them to create unique, sustainable products from pre-loved fabrics.
Overall Objective:
To support Roscommon Women’s Network to further develop its CycleUp social enterprise to support and upskill women to design, market and up-cycle textiles for sale, creating flexible employment and progression opportunities for themselves and raising awareness of environmental protection.
- It seeks to develop innovative and practical solutions to the problems associated with fast fashion and the charity shop sector, further reducing textile waste and increasing income generation.
